—until one has left the place or spoken. For instance, when you have performed the Dhuhr prayer—which is followed by its regular Sunnah (rātibah)—and you wish to offer that Sunnah, do not remain where you are. Move to another spot, or better still, go home; at the very least, say something, for the Prophet ﷺ forbade linking one prayer to another until the worshipper has moved away or spoken.
Accordingly, the scholars have ruled that it is recommended to separate the obligatory prayer from its Sunnah complement either by uttering a few words or by changing one’s location. The wisdom behind this is to keep the obligatory distinct from the voluntary: let each stand on its own so that they are not confused. Such is the position of the people of knowledge—may Allah have mercy on them. Allah is the One who grants success.
