some people nowadays do the very opposite: they fill the row from the far right while only a few stand on the left. This contravenes the Sunnah. The Sunnah requires that the right and left sides of the row remain approximately equal. Once they are balanced, we may then say the right side is preferable; and if one or two additional worshippers stand on the right, there is no harm. However, when the right side is full and the left contains only a handful, that is contrary to the Sunnah, for it leaves the imam off-center. You already know that the report stating, “Allah and His angels invoke blessings upon the right sides of the rows,” includes a narrator whose reliability is disputed…
