We must detest the presence in our land of any male or female servant who is not a Muslim—especially since our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula,” and also declared, “I shall certainly drive the Jews and Christians out of the Arabian Peninsula so that I leave no one there but a Muslim.” During his final illness, in the closing days of his life as he bade farewell to the community, he said, “Remove the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula.”
Yet some people today—may Allah keep us safe—are given the choice between a Muslim worker and a non-Muslim worker and they choose the unbeliever! Their hearts have wandered astray, inclined away from the truth; they pick the disbelievers instead. Satan has adorned their deeds for them, and they brazenly, falsely, and slanderously claim, “The disbeliever is more conscientious in his work than the Muslim!” I seek refuge in Allah.
They say, “The unbeliever does not pause for prayer; he uses the prayer times to work. He never asks for leave to perform ʿumrah or hajj. He does not fast, and he is always on the job.”
Such things do not concern them, even though the Creator of the heavens and the earth says, “A believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he may please you. Those people invite to the Fire, whereas Allah invites to Paradise and forgiveness, by His permission” (al-Baqarah 2:221).
Therefore, brothers, you must advise your fellow Muslims who have been deceived and to whom Satan has made it seem attractive to bring unbelievers into our land as servants and laborers and the like. They must realize that in doing so they are assisting the unbelievers
