and the truthful, pure Prophet will slay this vile false messiah, the Dajjal; Allah will grant him power over him, and he will kill him. Because the Dajjal’s trial is so immense, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed us to seek refuge from him in every prayer. He said: “When any one of you finishes the tashahhud, let him say: ‘I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the trial of the false messiah, the Dajjal.’” Since his trial is tremendous, we must earnestly seek Allah’s protection from it.
Among the safeguards against his temptation is that whoever memorizes ten verses from Sūrah al-Kahf—whether from its beginning or its end—and recites them over him will be shielded from his trial.
Other specific passages that grant protection are Sūrah al-Fātiḥah and the last two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah. No believer of this ummah recites them except that Allah grants him the requests they contain. In Sūrah al-Fātiḥah we say: “Guide us to the straight path, the path of those You have favored, not of those who have incurred Your wrath nor of those who are astray.” Concerning this, Allah says to His servant when he recites it in prayer: “This is for My servant, and My servant shall have what he asked for.”
As for the end of Sūrah al-Baqarah: “Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity; it will have whatever it has earned and against it will be whatever it has incurred …”
