and whoever rejects him he will cast into his “fire,” which looks to people like a garden, yet it is truly fire—may Allah protect us. As for his blaze that appears to be fire, it will in reality be a garden with cool, sweet water. People, however, can judge only by outward appearances. Allah has therefore made His signs clear to us, exposing the impostor’s lie: our Prophet ﷺ told us that the word kāfir (disbeliever) will be written between his eyes. Every believer will read it—even one who is illiterate—whereas every hypocrite will be blind to it. In the grave, likewise, if a person was a believer he will answer correctly, saying, “My Lord is Allah, my religion is Islam, and my prophet is Muhammad.” But if he was a hypocrite, even though he could read in worldly life, he will not be able to answer—Allah’s refuge is sought.
Our Prophet ﷺ also gave us another unmistakable sign: the Dajjal is one-eyed—he will have only a single eye—whereas our Lord, glorified and exalted, is free of every defect and is certainly not one-eyed. Whoever is granted divine success will be safeguarded from his trial and will be saved.
This vile Dajjal will remain on earth for forty days: the first day will be like a year—twelve months; the second day like a month—thirty days; the third day like a week—seven days; and the rest of the days will be like our ordinary days. He will last for that span, after which Jesus son of Mary ﷺ will descend and slay this false messiah.
