Chapter: Encouragement to recite particular surahs and verses
1010 – Abu Saʿid al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said about Qul huwa Allahu Ahad (Say: He is Allah, One): “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur’an.”
In another version, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked his Companions, “Is any one of you unable to recite a third of the Qur’an in a single night?” That seemed difficult for them, so they said, “Who among us could manage that, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Qul huwa Allahu Ahad, Allahu al-Ṣamad (Say: He is Allah, One—Allah, the Eternal Refuge) is one-third of the Qur’an.” Reported by al-Bukhari.
