Sharḥ Riyāḍ al-ṢāliḥīnIbn al-'Uthaymin

Chapter: The Recommendation to Beautify One’s Voice in Reciting the Qur’an, to Invite Recitation from One Who Possesses a Pleasant Voice, and to Listen to It

1004 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Allah has never listened as attentively to anything the way He listens to a prophet with a beautiful voice who chants the Qur’an aloud.” Agreed upon.

(The expression a-dhina Allahu means “He listened attentively,” and it signifies His good pleasure and acceptance.)

1005 – Abu Musa al-Ashʿari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “You have been given a flute among the flutes of the family of David.” Agreed upon.

In another narration recorded by Muslim, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “If only you had seen me while I was listening to your recitation last night.”
