Chapter: What one should say when returning and when first sighting his town
This chapter also includes the earlier Ibn ʿUmar report cited under “The traveller’s takbīr when ascending heights.”
987 – Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: “We were coming back with the Prophet ﷺ. When we reached the outskirts of Madinah he began to say, ‘āibūn, tāibūn, ʿābidūn, li-rabbinā ḥāmidūn’ (Returning, repentant, worshipful, praising our Lord), and he kept repeating it until we entered Madinah.” Muslim transmitted this ḥadīth.
