chaos, without frantic mobilization, and without provocation, but rather through an orderly, methodical approach—for the enemies of the Muslims, whether hypocrites or unbelievers, move forward with steady, systematic steps and thereby achieve their aims.
Those who are superficial, swept along by their emotions until they explode and rush headlong into action, may lose many opportunities; indeed, a single misstep from them can spoil everything they have built—if they have built anything at all.
The believer, however, remains patient and deliberate. He acts calmly, steels his soul, and draws up a well-structured plan by which he can thwart the enemies of Allah—both hypocrites and unbelievers—and rob them of their chances. Such foes lie in ambush for the people of righteousness, seeking to provoke them; then, if any lapse occurs from some of them, they rise up exultantly and say, “This is exactly what we wanted!”—and great harm follows.
Accordingly, the Messenger ﷺ said to his Companions, “Be patient.” Those who came before you—though you are even more deserving of patience than they—endured the very same trials and remained steadfast. You, O community of Muhammad, are the nation of patience and excellence; therefore persevere until Allah brings His command, for the final outcome belongs to the God-fearing.
As for you, dear reader, do not stay silent in the face of evil; confront it with order, planning, and sound conduct, and await deliverance from Allah. Do not grow weary, for the road is long—especially at the outset of a tribulation. Its instigators will strive, as far as they can, to scale the heights of their ambitions. Block their path, outlast them, and be more cunning than they are, for these enemies plot, and Allah plots—and Allah is the best.
