that even dumb animals would come and lodge their complaints with him whenever they saw him ﷺ. This, indeed, was among the signs of Allah with which He supported His Messenger. Allah has never sent a messenger without granting him evidentiary signs of his prophethood, so that people would not reject him; for were someone to appear among them claiming to be Allah’s envoy with no sign at all, they would not believe him. Hence Allah endows His messengers with signs proving that they are truthful. The greatest signs ever bestowed on any prophet are those given to the Prophet ﷺ himself.
Ibn Kathīr (d. 774 AH) records in al-Bidāyah wa al-Nihāyah—and others report likewise—that there is no miracle granted to any earlier prophet except that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was given something comparable to it, or greater, whether directly or through his followers. He furnished numerous examples and corroborating reports for this claim. Yet no prophet was ever granted anything like what the Prophet ﷺ received in the form of this revelation, the Qur’an. That is why he ﷺ said, “The only thing I have been given is a revelation Allah has sent down to me, and I therefore hope to have the largest following on the Day of Resurrection.”
This revelation endures to this very day, and every time people recite it their faith in Allah and His Messenger grows stronger because of the magnificent signs it contains, all of which attest that Muhammad ﷺ is truly Allah’s Messenger. Allah alone grants success.
