899 – ʿAlī (d. — AH) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Whenever a Muslim visits a fellow Muslim in the morning, seventy-thousand angels pray for him until nightfall; and if he visits him in the evening, seventy-thousand angels pray for him until dawn. Moreover, he will have a harvest of fruit in Paradise.” Recorded by al-Tirmidhī, who graded the ḥadīth ḥasan. The word kharīf denotes ripe dates that have just been gathered.
900 – Anas (d. — AH) said: A Jewish boy who used to serve the Prophet ﷺ fell ill. The Prophet went to see him and sat by his head, saying, “Accept Islam.” The boy looked over to his father, who was present, and the father said, “Obey Abū al-Qāsim.” So the boy embraced Islam, and the Prophet ﷺ left saying, “Praise be to Allah who has saved him from the Fire.” Reported by al-Bukhārī.
[Commentary]
The author — may Allah have mercy on him — includes, in the chapter on visiting the sick and following the funeral in Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn, the report from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib ﵁ that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “No Muslim who visits a sick person in the morning will fail to have seventy-thousand angels pray for him until evening; and if he visits in the evening, seventy-thousand angels pray for him until morning, and he will gather fruit in Paradise.”
