Chapter: Dreams and What Relates to Them

Allah the Exalted says: “And among His signs is your sleep by night and by day” (30:23).

838 – Abu Hurayrah reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Nothing of prophethood remains except glad tidings.” They asked, “What are the glad tidings?” He replied, “A righteous dream.” Recorded by al-Bukhari.

839 – He also reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “When the end of time draws near, the believer’s dream will scarcely prove false, for a believer’s dream is one part out of forty-six parts of prophethood.” Agreed upon. In another narration: “Those of you whose dreams are the truest are those whose speech is the truest.”

840 – He further reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever sees me in a dream will (in truth) see me while awake—or it is as though he has seen me while awake—for Satan cannot take my likeness.” Agreed upon.
