Chapter: Etiquette of a Gathering and of One’s Companion
825 – Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “None of you should make another man rise from his seat and then take it himself. Rather, make room and widen the space.” Ibn ʿUmar, whenever someone stood up for him, would refuse to sit in that place. Agreed upon.
826 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If one of you leaves his seat and then returns to it, he has a stronger claim to it.” Related by Muslim.
