He then cited the ḥadith of Abū Hurayrah: “When a man sits in a gathering in which he does not remember Allah, or lies down without remembering Him, he incurs from Allah a tira (loss).” To sit in an assembly without mentioning Allah is a loss, for there is no profit in it.
This narration shows that a person ought to multiply the remembrance of Allah—standing, sitting, and lying on his side. Likewise, if you recline without mentioning His name, you bear upon yourself a tira, that is, a loss. Therefore, remember Allah constantly and without cease, just as Allah describes those who do so:
“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for people of understanding—those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides.” (Q 3:190–191)
Thus you will have fulfilled His command: “O you who believe, remember Allah with much remembrance, and glorify Him morning and evening.” (Q 33:41–42)
May Allah help us to remember Him, thank Him, and worship Him in the best way.
