That is: to breathe into the very same vessel.
760 – Anas (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought milk that had been mixed with water. On his right sat a Bedouin, and on his left Abū Bakr (Allah be pleased with him). He drank, then handed the cup to the Bedouin and said, “Those on the right, then those on the right.” Agreed upon.
761 – Sahl ibn Saʿd (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was offered a drink, from which he drank. On his right was a young boy and on his left were some elders. He said to the boy, “Would you permit me to give it to these?” The boy replied, “No, by Allah, I will not give up my share of you to anyone.” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed the cup in his hand. Agreed upon.
His saying talla-hu means “he placed it,” and that boy was Ibn ʿAbbās (Allah be pleased with them both).
