So if you said, “By Allah, in shāʾ Allāh (if Allah wills), I will not do this,” and then went ahead and did it, nothing is required of you, for whoever appends in shāʾ Allāh to his oath incurs no violation. Allah is the One who grants success.
675 – Abū Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: “O Abū Dharr, I see that you are weak, and I love for you what I love for myself: never put yourself in charge of even two people, and never assume responsibility for an orphan’s property.” Reported by Muslim.
676 – He also related: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, will you not appoint me to a post?” He placed his hand on my shoulder and said, “O Abū Dharr, you are weak, and public office is a trust; on the Day of Resurrection it will be disgrace and regret, except for one who accepts it with its due right and discharges the duty that rests upon him.” Reported by Muslim.
