[Explanation]
The author—may Allah have mercy on him—lists here, among the ḥadiths, what the Prophet ﷺ said to al-Ashajj of ʿAbd al-Qays: “You possess two qualities that Allah loves: forbearance and deliberation.”
Forbearance means that when a person is provoked, wronged, or assaulted, he remains composed. He is not like a beast of burden, indifferent to what is done to him; rather, he is affected, yet he restrains himself and does not rush to punish. Only when punishment would be better than pardon does he proceed to punish.
Deliberation is taking matters slowly and avoiding haste. How often a person perishes or slips because of rushing into things—whether in transmitting news, in passing judgment on what he has heard, or in anything else.
Some people, for example, snatch up reports the moment they hear them and immediately spread them
