22- On the authority of Abū Nujayd—nūn with ḍammah and jīm with fatḥah—ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn al-Khuzāʿī (may Allah be pleased with him):
A woman from Juhaynah came to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ while she was pregnant from fornication. She said, “O Prophet of Allah, I have incurred a ḥadd, so execute it upon me.” The Prophet ﷺ summoned her guardian and said, “Treat her kindly; when she delivers, bring her to me.” He did so. The Prophet ﷺ then ordered that her clothes be secured tightly around her; afterward he commanded that she be stoned, and she was. He then performed the funeral prayer over her. ʿUmar said to him, “Do you offer the funeral prayer for her, O Prophet of Allah, when she has committed fornication?” He replied, “She has repented with a repentance that, were it distributed among seventy of the people of Madinah, it would have sufficed them all. Can you think of any repentance better than one who surrendered her very soul for Allah the Exalted?” (Muslim).

The Prophet ﷺ therefore called her guardian and instructed him to treat her well and, once she had delivered, to bring her back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
When she had given birth, her guardian brought her to the Prophet ﷺ. “He ordered that her garments be fastened tightly around her,” meaning they were wrapped and secured so she would not be exposed. “Then he ordered that she be stoned”—with stones neither very large nor very small—until she died. After that, the Prophet ﷺ performed the funeral prayer over her and supplicated for her as one does for the deceased. “ʿUmar then said to him…"
