And Allah knows best.
26/437 — Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Truly Allah stretches out His hand by night so that the sinner of the day may repent, and He stretches out His hand by day so that the sinner of the night may repent, until the sun rises from the west.” — Narrated by Muslim.
27/438 — Abu Najīḥ ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah—with the ʿayn and bāʾ both pronounced with a fatḥah—al-Sulamī (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In the Days of Ignorance I used to think that people were astray and possessed nothing of the truth, for they worshipped idols. I heard about a man in Mecca who was recounting remarkable news, so I mounted my riding beast and traveled to him. When I arrived, I found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concealing himself, for his people had emboldened themselves against him. I drew near gently until I entered upon him in Mecca and said, “What are you?” He replied, “I am a prophet.”
I asked, “What is a prophet?” He answered, “Allah has sent me.”
I said, “With what has He sent you?” He responded, “He has sent me to maintain the bonds of kinship, to smash idols, and so that Allah alone is worshipped with no partner beside Him.”
I asked, “Who is with you in this?” He said, “A free man and a slave.” On that day he had with him Abu Bakr and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with them). I said, “I shall follow you.” He replied, “You will not be able to do that today. Do you not see my condition and that of the people? Rather, return to your family, and when you hear that I have prevailed, come to me.”
So I went back to my family. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then migrated to Medina while I remained among my people. I kept asking for news and questioning those who came from Medina until some members of my clan returned from there
