15/426 – Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ on a donkey when he asked, “Mu‘ādh, do you know what Allah’s right over His servants is, and what the servants’ right over Allah is?” I replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Allah’s right over the servants is that they worship Him and never associate anything with Him, and the servants’ right over Allah is that He will not punish anyone who does not associate anything with Him.” I said, “Messenger of Allah, should I not convey this good news to the people?” He answered, “Do not tell them, lest they rely on it.” Agreed upon.
16/427 – Al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “When the Muslim is questioned in the grave, he bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. This is the meaning of Allah’s statement: ‘Allah makes firm those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter’ (Qur’an 14:27).” Agreed upon.
17/428 – Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When the unbeliever performs a good deed, he is given a morsel of provision from this world for it. As for the believer, Allah stores his good deeds for him in the Hereafter while still granting him provision in this world on account of his obedience.”
And in another wording: “Allah does not wrong a believer for a single good deed; he is granted something for it in this world, and he will be rewarded for it [again in the Hereafter].”
