Chapter 48 – A Warning against Harming the Righteous, the Weak, and the Poor
Allah the Exalted says:
“Those who abuse believing men and believing women for something they have not done have surely borne the burden of slander and a manifest sin.” (al-Ahzab 58)
He also says:
“So as for the orphan, do not oppress him; and as for the beggar, do not repel him.” (al-Duha 9–10)
The reports on this topic are numerous, among them:
• The hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) cited in the previous chapter: “Whoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, I have declared war upon him.”
• The hadith of Saʿd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned earlier under “Showing Kindness to the Orphan,” and the Prophet’s ﷺ words: “O Abu Bakr, if you have angered them, you have angered your Lord.”
⦗1/389⦘ – Jundub ibn ʿAbd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever performs the dawn prayer is under Allah’s protection. Therefore, do not let Allah call you to account concerning His protection for anything; for if He calls someone to account concerning His protection, He will overtake him, then throw him face-first into the Fire of Hell.” Related by Muslim.
