When Allah detests a servant, He calls Gabriel and says, ‘I detest so-and-so; so detest him.’ Gabriel detests him, then announces among the inhabitants of heaven, ‘Allah detests so-and-so; so detest him.’ They therefore detest him, and aversion toward him is laid down in heaven.”

He said, “Ask him why he does that.” They asked him, and he replied, “Because it describes the Most Merciful, and I love to recite it.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, “Inform him that Allah, exalted be He, loves him.” Agreed upon.
