As for the Prophet’s words, “they met upon it and parted upon it,” this means that they came together upon that love in this world, their affection endured between them, and when death at last separated them they were still upon the same bond.
This indicates that nothing in worldly affairs can sever the love that two people hold for one another for Allah’s sake. They remain bound by that love, and only death can divide them. Even if one of them wrongs the other or falls short in fulfilling his rights, it does not disturb their relationship, because the love was solely for Allah. He will, however, correct his brother’s mistake and point out his shortcoming, for doing so is part of true sincerity. We ask Allah to make us—and all Muslims—among those who love one another for His sake and cooperate in righteousness and piety; He is Ever-Generous, Most Kind.
3/377 — From him also, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah, the Exalted, will say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Where are those who loved one another for My majesty? Today I will shade them in My shade, on a day when there is no shade but My shade.’” Reported by Muslim.
4/378 — From him also, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you have faith, and you will not truly believe until you love one another. Shall I direct you to something which, if you do it, you will grow to love one another? Spread peace among yourselves.” Reported by Muslim.
5/379 — From him, from the Prophet ﷺ: “A man once set out to visit a brother of his in another town, and Allah dispatched an angel along his path …” — he narrated the report up to the words: “Indeed, Allah has loved you just as you loved him.”
