but the family of the Prophet ﷺ enjoys an additional right beyond that of other Muslims. Now, if the Messenger ﷺ affirmed this concerning the rights of his own household, then what of the Messenger’s right himself? The Messenger’s right ﷺ is the greatest right after that owed to Allah: it must take precedence over one’s own self, one’s children, one’s family, indeed over all people—in love, reverence, and acceptance of his guidance and Sunnah ﷺ, for he stands before everyone else. We ask Allah to make us and all Muslims among his followers, outwardly and inwardly.
