2/247 — Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them), in the story of Barīrah and her husband, said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, “Why don’t you take him back?” She asked, “Messenger of Allah, are you commanding me?” He replied, “I am only interceding.” She said, “I have no need of him.” Reported by al-Bukhārī.
