if it were possible to unite water and fire, only then could one combine the disbelievers’ professed love for us with their actual enmity, for Allah has called them enemies. He says, “O you who believe! Do not take My enemies and yours as allies” (Q. 60:1). He also says, “Whoever is an enemy to Allah, His angels, His messengers, Gabriel, or Michael—then Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers” (Q. 2:98).
Accordingly, every disbeliever is an enemy of Allah, an enemy of ours, and conceals nothing but ill-will toward us. You must therefore hate, in your heart, every disbeliever—whatever his ethnicity and however cordially he approaches you—knowing full well that he is your foe. The Almighty has declared, “O you who believe! Do not take My enemies and yours as allies” (Q. 60:1).
From this we derive a principle founded on the Prophet’s words, “A person will be with those he loves.” So, my brother, bind your heart to loving Allah, His Messenger, the rightly guided caliphs, his noble Companions, and the imams of guidance who succeeded them, so that you may be gathered in their company.
We ask Allah, by His favor and generosity, to grant us that. Allah alone grants success.

He asked for the most learned person on earth and was directed to a monk. He went to him and said that he had slain ninety-nine souls …”
