Preface
All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help and His forgiveness, and seek refuge with Allah from the evil within ourselves and from the consequences of our deeds. Whomever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whomever He leaves to stray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah bestow abundant blessings and peace upon him, his family, his Companions, and all who follow them with excellence until the Day of Recompense.

This book contains the beneficial comments of our esteemed teacher, Muhammad ibn Salih al-‘Uthaymin (may Allah have mercy on him), on a large selection of hadiths found in Riyad al-Salihin min Kalam Sayyid al-Mursalin by Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him).
Those comments were originally delivered during our teacher’s daily talks after the ‘Asr prayer in the Grand Mosque of ‘Unayzah. They have been reprinted repeatedly since the first edition in 1415 AH, prepared with care by Professor Dr. ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Tayyar—may Allah reward him well.
In accordance with the principles, guidelines, and directives that our teacher (may Allah have mercy on him) laid down for the Scientific Committee charged with publishing his works, this book has—by Allah’s grace—been prepared for publication, and its scholarly content has been reviewed against the original recorded lectures.
We ask Allah, the Exalted, to make this work purely for His noble face and beneficial to His servants, and to reward our teacher, Muhammad ibn Salih al-‘Uthaymin, for his service to Islam and the Muslims with the best of recompense and to multiply for him reward and merit. Truly, He is All-Hearing, Ever-Near.
May the blessings, peace, and grace of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Recompense.
