907 — Al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Amr informed us; he said: Sa‘dan related to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Abd Allah al-Ansari related to us, from Abbad ibn Mansur, who said: ⦗571⦘ I asked Ikrimah about this verse:

“And was at a distance of two bow-lengths or nearer.” [Surah al-Najm 53:9]

Ikrimah said: “Two of your own bows.” He then recited the verse:

“The heart did not deny what it saw.” [Surah al-Najm 53:11]

“And indeed he saw Him at another descent.” [Surah al-Najm 53:13]

“By the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary.” [Surah al-Najm 53:14]

Ikrimah said: “Would you like me to tell you that he did indeed see Him?” He said: I replied, “Yes.” He said: “He did see Him, then he saw Him again.” I then asked al-Hasan about it, and al-Hasan said: “He saw His beauty and His majesty, and he saw... and he saw...”
