896 — Abd al-Salam ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Umar informed us; Abu Nasr Muhammad ibn Hamdawayh informed us; Abu al-Muwajjih Muhammad ibn Amr al-Marwazi narrated to us; Abdān narrated to us. He said: Al-Ghiṭrīf ibn Aṭāʾ—that is, the governor of Khurasan—would deliver sermons. At the end of his sermon, he would say: “O Allah, whoever plots against us in this worldly life, keep us safe from him; teach us our argument on the Day of Resurrection; and grant us the blessing of beholding Your Countenance.”
