894—Ahmad informed us; ʿUmar informed us; Ahmad ibn al-Hasan related to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi al-Dunya related to us; Yaʿqub ibn Ishaq related to me; he said: I heard Nuʿaym ibn Hammad say: I heard Ibn al-Mubarak say:
“Allah does not veil anyone from Himself except that He punishes him.” He then recited:
“Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be veiled. Then indeed, they will enter the Blazing Fire. Then it will be said, ‘This is what you used to deny.’” [Al-Mutaffifin 83:15–17]
He said: “This refers to beholding Allah.”
٨٩٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ نُعَيْمَ بْنَ حَمَّادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: " مَا حَجَبَ اللَّهُ ﷿ أَحَدًا عَنْهُ إِلَّا عَذَّبَهُ , ثُمَّ قَرَأَ ﴿كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ﴾ [المطففين: ١٥] ﴿ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمَ﴾ [المطففين: ١٦] ﴿ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴾ [المطففين: ١٧] قَالَ بِالرُّؤْيَةِ "
