888—ʿAbd al-Raḥmān recorded it, saying: Ibn Abī ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ narrated to us; he said: I heard Sulaymān ibn Ḥarb, when Salamah ibn Shabīb—the transmitter who repeated the speaker’s words to the audience—asked him: “O Abū Ayyūb, relate the hadith of Abū Mūsā concerning the vision.” He replied, “Leave it.”
Then a man sitting near Sulaymān said quietly, “Yes, by Allah, leave it.” Sulaymān heard him, looked at him, and said, “Then I shall relate it to him despite you. Take it, for I see that you are among those who have abandoned it.” He then began and related it to him.
