- Al-Husayn ibn Ahmad al-Asadi informed us: Ibrahim ibn Musa al-Basri narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Asamm narrated to us: al-Rabi' ibn Sulayman narrated to us:
I was present with Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i when a written note came to him from Upper Egypt, asking: “What do you say regarding the words of Allah: ‘No indeed! From their Lord, on that Day, they will surely be veiled.’” [al-Mutaffifin: 15]
Al-Shafi'i said: “Since these people are veiled from Him when He is angry with them, this indicates that they will see Him when He is pleased.”
Al-Rabi' said: I said, “Abu Abd Allah, is this what you hold?” He replied, “Yes; this is the religion I profess. By Allah, if Muhammad ibn Idris were not certain that he would see Allah, he would not worship Allah Most High.”
