- Muhammad ibn Rizq Allah informed us: Ahmad ibn Uthman ibn Yahya informed us; Ibn Abi al-Awwam narrated to us; Abu Bakr Abd al-Rahman ibn Uthman al-Sufi narrated to us, saying: I heard ⦗72⦘ Yusuf ibn Asbat say: I heard Sufyan al-Thawri say:
“If you hear of a man in the East who adheres to the sunnah, and another in the West, then send them greetings of peace and supplicate for them. How few are the people of the sunnah and the jama'ah.”
٥٠ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رِزْقِ اللَّهِ , أنبا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى , ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي الْعَوَّامِ , ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الصُّوفِيُّ , قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ⦗٧٢⦘ يُوسُفَ بْنَ أَسْبَاطٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيَّ يَقُولُ: «إِذَا بَلَغَكَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ بِالْمَشْرِقِ صَاحِبِ سُنَّةٍ وَآخَرَ بِالْمَغْرِبِ , فَابْعَثْ إِلَيْهِمَا بِالسَّلَامِ وَادْعُ لَهُمَا , مَا أَقَلَّ أَهْلَ السُّنَّةِ وَالْجَمَاعَةِ»
