Abd al-Rahman mentioned him and said: Isma'il ibn Salih al-Hulwani narrated to us; Abu Ma'mar al-Qati'i narrated to us; ‘Abbad ibn al-‘Awwam said: Sharik came to us, and we said, “Some people deny these hadiths: that Allah descends to the lowest heaven, the believers’ vision of Him, and similar reports.” He said, “Those who transmitted these hadiths to us are the very ones who transmitted to us the sunnahs concerning prayer, zakah, and Hajj. We have only come to know Allah through these hadiths.”
ذَكَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ: ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا شَرِيكٌ , فَقُلْنَا: إِنَّ قَوْمًا يُنْكِرُونَ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثَ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَنْزِلُ إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا وَالرُّؤْيَةَ وَمَا أَشْبَهَ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثَ , فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا جَاءَنَا بِهَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ مَنْ جَاءَنَا بِالسُّنَنِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ وَالْحَجِّ , وَإِنَّمَا عَرَفْنَا اللَّهَ بِهَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ "
