874 — Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim mentioned it, saying: Muhammad ibn Khalid ibn Yazid al-Shaybani narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Abi al-Hawari narrated to us; al-Musayyab ibn Wadih narrated to us; one of our shaykhs narrated to me, saying: al-Awza'i said to me:
“I hope that Allah will deprive Jahm and his companions of the greatest reward He promised His devoted servants, when He says:
‘Some faces, that Day, will be radiant, looking at their Lord.’ [Surah al-Qiyamah 75:22–23]
Jahm and his companions denied the greatest reward that He promised His devoted servants.”
٨٧٤ - ذَكَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَوَارِيِّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْمُسَيَّبُ بْنُ وَاضِحٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ مَشَايِخِنَا قَالَ: قَالَ لِيَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ: " إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَحْجُبَ اللَّهُ ﷿ جَهْمًا وَأَصْحَابَهُ أَفْضَلَ ثَوَابِهِ الَّذِي وَعْدَهُ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ حِينَ يَقُولُ: ﴿وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ﴾ [القيامة: ٢٢] ﴿إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ﴾ [القيامة: ٢٣] فَجَحَدَ جَهْمٌ وَأَصْحَابُهُ أَفْضَلَ ثَوَابِهِ الَّذِي وَعَدَ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ "
