869 — Al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; Ahmad ibn al-Hasan informed us; Muhammad ibn al-Abbas narrated to us; Ubayd Allah ibn Umar narrated to us; Mudar al-Qari narrated to us; Abd al-Wahid ibn Zayd narrated to us: “I heard al-Hasan say: ‘If the worshippers in this world knew that they would not see their Lord in the Hereafter, their very souls would melt away.’”
Reports transmitted from the jurists of the third generation of the Successors include the following from the people of Medina:
٨٦٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُضَرُ الْقَارِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ، يَقُولُ: «لَوْ عَلِمَ الْعَابِدُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَذَابَتْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ» مَا نُقِلَ عَنِ الْفُقَهَاءِ مِنَ الطَّبَقَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ مِنَ التَّابِعِينَ فَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ:
