- Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Abi Khaythamah narrated to us; Subayh ibn Abdullah al-Farghani narrated to us; Abu Ishaq al-Fazari narrated to us, from al-Awza‘i, who said:
“It used to be said: There are five matters upon which the Companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Successors who followed them in goodness stood: adhering to the community, following the sunnah, maintaining the mosques, reciting the Quran, and striving in the path of Allah.”
٤٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ , أنبا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ , ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ , ثنا صُبَيْحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْفَرْغَانِيُّ , ثنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ , عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ , قَالَ: " كَانَ يُقَالُ: " خَمْسٌ كَانَ عَلَيْهَا أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ وَالتَّابِعُونَ بِإِحْسَانٍ: لُزُومُ الْجَمَاعَةِ , وَاتِّبَاعُ السُّنَّةِ , وَعِمَارَةُ الْمَسَاجِدِ , وَتِلَاوَةُ الْقُرْآنِ , وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ "
