862 — Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad and al-Qasim ibn Ja'far informed us; they said: al-Husayn ibn Yahya informed us; he said: al-Hasan ibn Arafah related to us; he said: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim Ibn Ulayyah related to us, from Sulayman al-Taymi, from Aslam al-Ijli, from Abu Mirayah, who said:

“Abu Musa was teaching the people their sunnah and their religion when their eyes turned upward—or, he said, they turned them away from him. He said, ‘What has turned your eyes away from me?’ They replied, ‘The new moon, O Commander.’ ⦗552⦘ He said, ‘So that is what has turned your eyes away from me?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Then what will you do when you see Allah plainly?’”
