816 — ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us; ‘Uthman ibn Ahmad informed us; Ibrahim ibn al-Haytham narrated to us; Abu al-Yaman al-Hakam ibn Nafi‘ narrated to us; Shu‘ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib and ‘Ata’ ibn Yazid al-Laythi informed us that Abu Hurayrah informed them both that the people said, “O Messenger of Allah, will we see our Lord, Exalted is He, on the Day of Resurrection?”
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do you have any difficulty seeing the sun when no clouds cover it?” They replied, “No.” ⦗522⦘ He said, “Then do you have any difficulty seeing the moon when no clouds cover it?” They said, “No, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “You will see Him in the same way.”
Their wordings are identical. It was recorded by al-Bukhari through Abu al-Yaman, and by Muslim through ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Samarqandi, from Abu al-Yaman.
