- Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-‘Abbas and ‘Isa ibn ‘Ali informed us; they said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us; he said: Hudbah ibn Khalid related to us; he said: Hammad ibn Salamah related to us, from Thabit, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Suhayb, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: “For those who do good is the finest reward—and more besides.” [Yunus 10:26] He then said:
“When the people of Paradise enter Paradise and the people of the Fire enter the Fire, a caller will call out: ‘O people of Paradise, Allah has made a promise to you and wishes to fulfil it for you.’ They will say, ‘What is it? Has He not made our scales weigh heavily, brightened our faces, admitted us into Paradise, and saved us from the Fire?’ Then the veil will be lifted, and they will look upon Allah. Nothing they are given will be more beloved to them ⦗505⦘ than looking upon Him. That is the “more besides.””
Muslim recorded it in his Sahih.
٧٧٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ، وَعِيسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ، قَالَ: قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ﴿لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ﴾ [يونس: ٢٦] فَقَالَ: " إِذَا دَخَلَ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ النَّارَ نَادَى مُنَادٍ: يَا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ إِنَّ لَكَمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَوْعِدًا وَيُرِيدُ أَنْ يُنْجِزَكُمُوهُ فَيَقُولُونَ: مَا هُوَ أَلَمْ يُثَقِّلْ مَوَازِينَنَا وَيُبَيِّضْ وُجُوهَنَا وَيُدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ وَيُجِرْنَا مِنَ النَّارِ؟ فَيُكْشَفُ الْحِجَابُ؛ فَيَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ فَمَا شَيْءٌ أُعْطُوهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِمْ ⦗٥٠٥⦘ مِنَ النَّظَرِ إِلَيْهِ , وَهُوَ الزِّيَادَةُ " أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ
