Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-JamaahAl-Lalakai

756 — Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Abbas informed us: Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us: Abdullah ibn ⦗490⦘ Salih, Abu Salih, narrated to us: al-Layth narrated to me: Ziyadah ibn Muhammad al-Ansari narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Kab al-Qurazi, from Fadalah ibn Ubayd, from Abu al-Darda, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Allah descends during the final three hours that remain of the night. In the first of these hours, He looks into the Book, which none but He looks into, and erases whatever He wills and confirms whatever He wills. Then, in the second hour, He looks into Adn, which is His dwelling in which He dwells. None are with Him there except the Prophets, the martyrs, and the utterly truthful; and therein are things which no eye has seen and which have never occurred to the heart of any human being. Then, in the final hour of the night, He descends and says: ‘Is there anyone seeking forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Is there anyone asking, that I may grant him? Is there anyone supplicating, that I may answer him?’ This continues until dawn rises.”

Allah, mighty and majestic, said: “And the Quran at dawn—indeed, the Quran at dawn is ever witnessed.” [al-Isra 17:78] Allah and His angels witness it.
