752 — Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad informed us; Abbas ibn Muhammad narrated to us; Muhadir ibn Muwarriʿ narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Abu Salih, who related it from Abu Saʿid and Abu Hurayrah; and from Abu Ishaq and Habib, from al-Agharr, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Indeed, Allah grants respite until the first third of the night has passed. Then He descends to the lowest heaven and says: ‘Is there anyone seeking forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Is there anyone asking, that I may grant him? Is there anyone repenting, that I may accept his repentance?’ This continues until dawn breaks.”
