751 — Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Umar informed us; Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hatim informed us; Abu Zur'ah narrated to us; Abu Nu'aym narrated to us; Marzuq, the freed slave of Abd al-Rahman al-Bahili, narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“When the Day of Arafah comes, Allah descends to the lowest heaven and boasts of them before the angels, saying: ‘Look at ⦗487⦘ My servants: they have come to Me, dishevelled and dust-covered, journeying from every distant mountain pass. I call you to witness that I have forgiven them.’ The angels say, ‘My Lord, so-and-so is burdened, and so-and-so is burdened’—meaning, immersed in sins—‘and so-and-so and so-and-so.’ Allah says, ‘I have forgiven them.’”
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “There is no day on which more people are freed from the Fire than the Day of Arafah.”
