749—Al-Husayn ibn Umar informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn al-Hasan informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Uthman narrated to us; he said: Ubayd ibn Yaish narrated to us; he said: Yunus ibn Bukayr narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from his uncle Musa ibn Yasar, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi, from Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Were it not that I would cause hardship to my community, I would delay the final Isha prayer until the first third of the night. For when the first third of the night has passed, Allah descends to the lowest heaven and remains there until dawn rises, saying: Is there anyone asking, that he may be given? Is there anyone supplicating, that he may be answered? Is there any sinner seeking forgiveness, that he may be forgiven? Is there any sick person seeking healing, that he may be healed?”
