Muhammad informed us; Ahmad ibn Sa'id informed us; Muhammad ibn Yahya informed us; Abd al-Razzaq informed us; Ma'mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Abu Salamah and al-Agharr, the companion of Abu Hurayrah, informed me that Abu Hurayrah informed them both that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Allah descends every night to the lowest heaven when the final third of the night remains, and says: ‘Who calls upon Me, that I may answer him? Who seeks My forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Who asks of Me, that I may give him?’”
Their wordings are identical, except that Malik’s narration does not contain the word “final”; otherwise, it is the same. It was recorded by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
