720 — Abd Allah ibn Muslim ibn Yahya and Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; they said: al-Husayn ibn Isma‘il informed us; he said: Abu al-Ash‘ath Ahmad ibn al-Miqdam narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Tufawi narrated to us; he said: Ayyub narrated to us, from Muhammad, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Paradise and Hell disputed with one another. Hell said, ‘The tyrannical and the arrogant shall enter me.’ Paradise said, ‘The weak and lowly among people shall enter me.’ Allah, mighty and majestic, then said to Hell, ‘You are My punishment, by which I punish whomever I will.’ And He said to Paradise, ‘You are My mercy, through which I show mercy to whomever I will. Each of you shall have its full measure.’
“When the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah will not wrong any of His creation in the least. People will be cast into Hell, and it will say, ‘Are there any more?’ until Allah places His foot in it. Then it will be filled, and its parts will draw together, and it will say, ‘Enough, enough.’”
Muslim reported it through the hadith of Ayyub.
