704—Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Harun informed us; he said: Sulayman ibn Umar ibn Khalid al-Aqta‘ narrated to us; he said: Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Qasim—that is, ibn Muhammad—from Abu Hurayrah, who said—and I do not consider it to be traced back to the Prophet:
“Indeed, Allah, exalted is He, takes the charity, accepting from it only that which is wholesome, and takes it in His right hand. Then He nurtures it as one of you nurtures his foal or his young camel, until He makes it greater than Mount Uhud.”
Abu Hurayrah said: In the Book of Allah, exalted is He: “Allah obliterates usury and causes charitable donations to increase” [al-Baqarah 2:276]. He then recited: “Indeed, Allah is the One who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charitable donations” [al-Tawbah 9:104], to the end of the verse.
