An account of what the Book of Allah, Most High, and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, indicate: that Allah is Hearing with hearing, Seeing with sight, and Powerful by His power.
Allah, Exalted is He, says: “And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” [Quran 2:224]
He says: “O my dear father! Why do you worship that which neither hears nor sees, nor can benefit you in any way?” [Quran 19:42]
And He says in the account of Moses: “Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and see.” [Quran 20:46]
And He says: “Certainly Allah has heard the words of the woman who disputed with you concerning her husband.” [Quran 58:1]
It is related from Umar that this woman spoke with him, and someone said to her, “You have spoken at length to the Commander of the Believers.” He said, “Leave her. Do you not recognize her? She is the one whom Allah heard.”
Aishah said, “All praise belongs to Allah, whose hearing encompasses all voices.”
When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, heard his Companions raising their voices in supplication, he said: “Be gentle with yourselves. You are not calling upon One who is deaf or absent.”
In the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recited, “Hearing and Seeing,” [Quran 4:58] he pointed by placing his forefinger and thumb upon his eye and ear—meaning that He is Hearing with hearing and Seeing with sight.
