681—Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Muslim informed us: Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Israil narrated to us: Abd Allah ibn Ahmad narrated to us: I heard my father, when Ali ibn al-Jahm asked him, “Does one who affirms divine decree become a disbeliever?” He replied, “If he denies Allah’s knowledge—if he says that Allah was not Knowing until He created knowledge and then came to know—thereby denying Allah’s knowledge, then he is a disbeliever.”
