671 – Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn informed us; Ahmad ibn Abi Khaythamah informed us; Harun ibn Ma‘ruf narrated to us; Damrah narrated to us, from Sadaqah, who said: I heard al-Taymi say, “If I were asked, ‘Where is Allah, Exalted is He?’ ⦗445⦘ I would say, ‘In heaven.’ Then if he asked, ‘Where was His Throne before He created the heaven?’ I would say, ‘Upon the water.’ Then if he asked me, ‘Where was His Throne before He created the water?’ I would say, ‘I do not know.’”
٦٧١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا ضَمْرَةُ، عَنْ صَدَقَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ التَّيْمِيَّ، يَقُولُ: لَوْ سُئِلْتُ: أَيْنَ اللَّهُ ﵎؟ ⦗٤٤٥⦘ قُلْتُ: فِي السَّمَاءِ , فَإِنْ قَالَ: فَأَيْنَ عَرْشُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَاءَ؟ قُلْتُ: عَلَى الْمَاءِ , فَإِنْ قَالَ لِي: أَيْنَ كَانَ عَرْشُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْمَاءَ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا أَدْرِي
